Coach Iain Banks

Having raced mountain bikes competitively at the National Expert level in the UK since 1995, upon relocating to the U.S.A in 2004 Iain began to race competively in triathlon and running events. After a season of primarily Olympic distance events he moved up to the longer half-ironman distanced where the endurance nature of the races proved more to his suiting. 2006 saw him complete his first Ironman race and as an small detour from triathlon racing ultra-distance trail races (running) were on the schedule in 2007.

In 2007, 2008 and 2009 he qualified for the 70.3m World Championships as well as in 2007 the ITU Long-Distance Duathlon World Championships.

In 2008 he became the Mid-Atlantic Ultra Distance Triathlon Champion at the ChesapeakeMan Ultra Distance (ironman) triathlon and finished in the top 10 at the National Marathon (2hr 40min marathon).

Having just completed a sub 10-hour Ironman Louisville he ranked 11th in Age Group and in the top 50 amateurs (38th). Long-term goals are to race consistently in long-distance triathlons and qualify for World Championship events where he can compete against the best athletes in the world. The schedule for 2010 already includes Eagleman 70.3m and Ironman Lake Placid.
